Spring Activities

Dear Parents

A couple of dates to note in your calendar.

In working towards the award schemes the Scout section will be running a day’s hiking in and around Malham on the 20th March. The leaders will be able to provide transport for a number of scouts but it may be that we need the support of parents to help with some transport. There will be no cost to this activity but all scouts will need hiking boots/strong footwear, waterproofs, hat and gloves, warm clothing and a packed lunch.

The Scouts are planning to have a camp at Great Tower campsite on the 13, 14 and 15th May. The camp will be geared towards each participant receiving their Outdoor Challenge Award. The costs of the camp will be £35.00 and this will not include travel to and from Great Tower.

If you would like your child to attend the camp a non-returnable deposit of £15.00 must be paid to 1st Longridge Scouts by 21st March. The accommodation will be booked as soon as the deposits are received. There will unfortunately not be any opportunity to book on the camp after this date.

We rely on the support and commitment of the scouts to make these events work. In the last couple of years scout camps have been cancelled because they weren’t viable to run with the very small numbers of scouts prepared to commit to going away. Without this commitment we will have to re-assess whether there is any demand for such activities in the future.

Please speak to any of the leaders if you have any queries regarding the above.

Yours in scouting

Steve Williams
